I love this place A charming 1920's hotel with high quality period fittings, from the sculpture in the car park to the art deco room numbers. It is all genuine; not a plastic mock-up.However, I'm glad to say that the plumbing is modern. The place is comfortable, and I can find no fault. A stay here reminds you of the golden age of 1930's aviation, in a good way.The conference and other venue facilities are excellent, and it's often used for weddings. A period decorated bar and small restaurant complete the offering. And there are all the airfield facilities you could wish for on sight, including a museam.
We went for something to eat on Sunday, in the bar as we had a dog with us. They were only doing a Turkey Baguette, roast potatoes and gravy as a Sunday bar meal (fair enough). I was told that they would have a vegetarian option, which I ordered. After I ordered a large party arrived for the restaurant, they were seated and seen to. My meal took 45 minutes to arrive, as the large party took priority and it was the Turkey Baguette. I sent it back to get the vegeterian option I had ordered to be presented with a toasted cheese roll and three halves of roast potato! For 7.25! The most expensive cheese roll I have had. I will not be going back for food. I have given them 2 stars as the surroundings are lovely but the service left a lot to be desired. We were offered a complimentary coffee by the bar staff after the long wait and wrong meal turning up.
Amazing Christmas party night. Very organised, food hot and tasty, brilliant band and disco. Hotel good, breakfast good. Well done Aviator!!
Four of us went earlier this week for a lunch time meal in the restaurant, the food served was excellent as usual, but the service? was woeful, again. Why, oh why is this not addressed, as it seems to happen more often than not, which is a shame as I really enjoy the rest of the experience. For goodness sake sort it out!
Fabulously historic place to visit and eat with an excellent choice of meals from Bar snacks to high class restaurant food in original Art Deco surroundings.Almost regular opportunities to watch the Blades Flying aces rehearsing in the sky and a chance to see a collection of Historic aircraft like a WW2 Spitfire. Wonderful.
